Preparing complex clients for reprocessing: activating and strengthening adaptive networks for easier AIP access.

Most clinicians feel they lack the skills and protocols to support their complex clients in phase 2 leading them to feeling hesitant to move into the reprocessing phases. Learn new strategies to enhance your clients felt sense of agency, safety and confidence within the preparation phase leading to the stabilization required to feel ready to reprocess safely and effectively with your clients.

You will learn how to use Deb Dana's exercises to offer your clients strategies to tune into and toward their state and story with curiosity and compassion. You will learn how to practice naming states, tracking transition between states, and shifts. You will learn how to bring mindful attention to states that increase capacity for staying anchored (using TCTSY). Therapists will also learn how to bring attention to and engage with your clients’ new autonomic patterns using bilateral stimulation to shape the new, adaptive neural pathways needed for reprocessing phases. Your clients will be able to use their new abilities to regulate and creating safe connections between sessions - enhancing adaptive networks to be accessible to their AIP during reprocessing phases.

Using April Steel's Imaginal Nurturing, you’ll learn how to offer your client’s guided imagery & metaphor to facilitate a felt sense of connectedness and nurturing with their parts of self, facilitating the development of an internalized secure base, leading to a felt sense of grounding in the present, capacity to connect with, honour and nurture different parts of self leading to stronger regulation skills needed for reprocessing phases.

Using Laurel Parnell's helping figures, therapists will learn how to to offer a felt sense of protection, nurturing and guidance for their client’s parts of self that will lead to greater stabilization needed for gathering history during treatment planning, stabilization during reprocessing phases, stabilization between sessions, and creating interweaves to be used when stuck during reprocessing phases.
